Protect Your Investment- There are approximately 40 million masonry chimneys in North America and the most common problem with these structures is water penetration. Water causes over 1 billion dollars in damage annually in the form of staining, loss of insulation value, freeze-thaw damage, deterioration, and ultimately structural failure. All new and existing masonry chimneys are susceptible to water damage and even if repaired, chimneys will continue to deteriorate if they are not protected. We've listed water repellents specifically developed to protect chimneys from the severe weather conditions to which they are exposed. We recommend a WATER REPELLENT-not a water sealer. The difference could save you hundreds, or even thousands of dollars in repairs because sealers can actually damage masonry. Unlike waterproofing sealers that remain on the surface and trap water vapors, the water repellent should penetrate deep enough to protect masonry from destructive water penetration. Water Damage Can Be Prevented Chimneys are highly exposed to the elements and, if left unprotected, are susceptible to structural deterioration. It is important to address this problem before serious damage occurs.

ChimneySaver contains
patented siloxanes small enough to penetrate most masonry pores up
to 1/4" or more. These special siloxanes form strong bonds
with the silica in masonry and concrete. Because of this
bonding process, one application of ChimneySaver
provides up to ten times the water repellent protection of
typical sealers. Moisture from a variety of
sources is always present in masonry and concrete. Sealers and
silicone coatings form a water resistant surface film, which traps
water vapors. If these vapors cannot escape, they will
contribute to spalling, scaling, deterioration, and freeze-thaw
damage. ChimneySaver is 100% vapor permeable - a non
film-forming water repellent that penetrates and lines masonry

- just use a low-pressure sprayer or any nonmetal brush or
roller. You'll need a stiff-fiber, non-metal scrub brush to do
the scrubbing. Goggles, chemical splash gloves and a
respirator are required. For smoke stains inside the
house, Brick and Mortar Cleaner is not the recommended product, try
Speedy White.For general cleaning, dilute with
two parts water. For stains, use full strength. Covers
50-150 sq. ft. per gallon.

When you see a crown (mortar cap) of a chimney that's
cracked but not separated from the chimney yet, use this material to
fill the cracks and make it watertight again before the whole
crown has to be replaced. This product can be applied
even in moist conditions. The purpose of a crown or mortar cap
is to prevent water from seeping into the chimney; when its cracked
it isn't doing its job and can lead to the deterioration of the
whole structure.
An exterior mastic patching cement.
Natural concrete color. Repairs broken mortar in chimneys,
steps, sidewalks, etc.
A product of SaverSystems, CrownSeal is used
wherever a long-lasting exterior waterproof membrane is needed, as
on chimney crowns, the top of masonry walls and after stucco repair.
Comes with 10 yr warranty, stays permanently flexible and no bonding
agent is required. Has a natural concrete/mortar look and is
ready to use right out of the container (no mixing). CrownSeal can
be used as a bonding mortar to replace badly spalled brick units or
for parging over brick faces that may have spalled, (if remaining
brick is solid). Product can be used for crack repair, surface
grouting and tuck pointing. Coverage: At 1/8" thickness, 14-18 sq.
ft. per gallon, depending on texture and porosity of surface to be
coated. Dries to touch within one hour. Cures completely
in 24-72 hours depending on thickness. This product is
freeze/thaw stable. Comes in 2 or 5 gallon recyclable plastic
containers.
CrownCoat
from SaverSystems covers 80 sq. ft. with just one 2 gallon bucket,
it dries in two to four hours and goes on with a paint brush.
This product comes pre-mixed and ready to use or can be customized
colored with a standard mortar dye. CrownCoat has a 15 year warranty
and saves you about 50% over other crown coatings per
application. 
AHRENS CHAMBER TECH 2000 comes in a 5 gallon pail (30
lbs.) in dry form, just add water and apply. How Do You Get It
In There? From sweeps who are doing it, you take out the
damper and sometimes the top one or two rows of bricks to gain
access to the smoke chamber. It's work, but if it's got to
be done, this is the material to do it
with!!
A new product from the people at
SaverSystems. Use CrackMagic TM to fill small cracks in exterior masonry (up to 1/8").
It keeps the water out but lets the internal moisture
escape. Comes in a 1/2 gallon bucket with the two
application brushes shown. You get about 100 sq. ft. from each
bucket. Great for solving leak problems that don't resolve
with ChimneySaver.
When the crown is gone beyond the point of
simple repairs, use CrownSaver to build a new one. It has a
10-year warranty. Comes in 30lb. buckets with directions right on
the side. This is a dry product which you mix with
sand (one scoop of CrownSaver to 3 scoops of sand-scoop
provided) and water. Can be used with or without
FormFoil, an aluminum foil backed adhesive that is pressed in
place over the existing crown, (FormFoil acts as a bond break
and watertight flashing system between the old and new crown) or
pull the old one off and build the new one from scratch with just
the CrownSaver. You can apply over the old crown, no forms are
needed and it sets up in under two hours. Because it's
from SaverSystems (the same folks who produce
Chimney Saver) it contains waterproofing, the perfect product
for crowns. 
VenTubes
help prevent moisture damage to the tops of chimneys. Install 4 on
one side between courses of brick and 4 on the other side for cross
- ventilation of the top of chimneys. Constructed of 304 stainless
with a screen built into the exposed end. 1/2" in diameter and 4
1/2" long.
From
SaverSystems, a long-lasting flashing repair system designed to stop
leaks from faulty or deteriorated flashing around chimney stacks and
vents. FlashSeal Elastomeric Sealant is available in BLACK or
WHITE, comes in one gallon containers and is used in
conjunction with Flash Seal Reinforcement Fabric-sold separately in
150 ft. rolls. One roll of Reinforcement Fabric will last
through 3-4 gallons of FlashSeal. The only tools needed are a
pair of scissors and a 3 or 4 inch paint brush. 
PWR is a dry mix water repellent from the folks
at SaverSystems. It is designed to be added to mortar mix to
make it waterproof. PWR comes in a 1 lb. container with a
measuring cup. Add one oz. for each 15 lbs. of mortar
mix. When you do crowns or tuck pointing it will be waterproof
when it cures.
Water-Based ChimneySaver can be
applied in damp conditions, doesn't discolor or damage asphalt
shingles, non-combustible and has no chemical odor. Because
some of our customers prefer the original solvent-based heavy
duty ChimneySaver, we're stocking it also! More information
